Los Angeles Disability Attorney

If you have questions about your rights under either the FMLA or the CFRA, or if you have the strong feeling that you've lost your job because you invoked the disability, medical, or maternity leave rights to which you were entitled, contact the Leichter Law Firm.
The Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 makes it illegal to discriminate against disabled workers. Disabled workers are permitted by law to keep working for as long as they are able to complete their job requirements. Your employer cannot tell you that you need to go out on leave or stop working because you are disabled. A company may be violating the law if it has refused to hire you because you are disabled;   demoted or terminated you, or reduced your job responsibilities because you are disabled; or denied you a promotion because you are disabled. We serve clients throughout California from our Los Angeles office, located in the mid-Wilshire area. Call to set up a free, confidential consultation with a Los Angeles Disability Attorney: 213-381-6557 or email us.

  1. First a quick look at what Social Security Disability (SSD) is not. SSD is not State Disability Insurance (SDI) which is an injured worker's insurance program administered by the Employment Development Department (EDD) of the State of California. And SSD is of course not a private disability insurance plan of the type which was once a widely available fringe benefit for employees, but is becoming increasingly rare. On this website, we will discuss these disability plans in the future.
